Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End on DVD

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End on DVD.  Who doesn’t love a good swashbuckling adventure?  Though I admit that with all the superstitions, pirate codes, dark settings, double-crossings and pirate accents, I struggle sometimes to follow the plots.  This third and final chapter in the Pirates trilogy features two strange, fragile and ever-shifting alliances.  First, Davy Jones is blackmailed by the English into clearing the seas of dangerous pirate ships.  Meanwhile, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann and Captain Barbossa work together to rescue Jack Sparrow so that the Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court can combine forces to oppose Jones and the English.  In general, the fight scenes are muddled with too many people and the Turner father-son arch is too sticky-sweet, but the final battle over the last half-hour of the film is worth wading through the inconsistent first two hours.
